This relaxed approach continues with a pre-arrival questionnaire to streamline the check-in process, and the staff, who are as friendly and hospitable as ever, receive regular Covid-19 training. While social distancing measures mean fewer tables and an absolute necessity to book, the Fell Restaurant, with its two AA Rosettes, remains a highlight. Breakfasts are served to the table with bookable time slots throughout the morning, and if guests prefer, everything can be served to a neighbouring (unused) table to minimise contact.
A dramatic estate perched on a view-laden outlook in the 30,000 rural acres of Bolton Abbey awaits at the Devonshire Fell. Each of its 16 individually-designed rooms offers countryside views enhanced by luxury finishings and all the necessities, making it a perfect retreat from which to explore the Dales. The delightful spa at the Devonshire Arms is available to guests too, but booking ahead is necessary.
