Andaz London Liverpool Street
About
This striking red-brick building was once one of London’s original railway hotels (The Great
Eastern). Straddling the skyscraper-laden streets of The City and the creative corners of
Shoreditch and East London, the Andaz is as good a choice for business travellers as it is for
travellers seeking out East London’s legendary nightlife and entertainment. 267 rooms across
various room types offer a creative design palette that blends contemporary finishings with east-
London arts, offering chic King and Queen rooms coloured by stylish greys and accentuated by
warm oranges. A trio of suites offer enhanced spaces with separate lounges, including the Sir
Terence Conrad-designed Designer Suite — ideal for special occasions. Across each category of
room, expect exquisite finishings, luxurious beddings, designer bathrooms with chic industrial
highlights in a contemporary monochrome palette, USB connections, Nespresso machines and a
complimentary mini-bar.
London-bound travellers will find that most of the Andaz hotel, except the Andaz Studio and Masonic
Temple, is accessible via ramp or lift. While most rooms come with walk-in showers and plenty of space,
there are four adapted rooms which are bookable upon request. However 1901 and Eastway need to be
accessed from the street entrance where a special lift is in place.
Families and group travellers can select a family room with a
connection to a room with 2 twin beds or 1 king bed — well suited to various configurations.
The Andaz health club features a generously-sized gym with cable machines, dumbbells,
treadmills and more, all housed within one of the hotel’s uniquely evocative Masonic temples built
in the early 1900s. Some rooms are upgradable to include an exercise bike for those who prefer to
work out in their room, and there’s a full range of in-room spa treatments available such as
massages, beauty treatments and one-on-one workouts.
Much like the eclectic amenities found across Liverpool Street, the City and Shoreditch, Hotel
Andaz’s food and drink offering is astoundingly versatile, with English pub favourites found in the
ornate Lady Abercorn’s Pub and Kitchen, pan-European brasserie dishes in the Eastway
Brasserie, sushi and sake in the Miyako Japanese restaurant, and afternoon tea invigorated by a
sublime wine list in the cocoon-like surrounds of 1901 Wine Lounge. Cocktail lovers should book a
table in the Instagram-worthy interiors of Rake’s Cafe Bar for exquisitely crafted cocktails with
more than a touch of hedonism, served alongside oysters and decadent brunches.
The Andaz occupies an enviable location at the intersection of the city and the art quarters of East
London, each brimming with restaurants, bars and nightclubs. Within strolling distance, you’ll find
the wide streets of The City, the Tower of London, and Tower Bridge ornamented across the
sparkling Thames. Numerous public transport options, from the overground and underground to
busses and Elizabeth Line, make getting anywhere from leafy Notting Hill to Heathrow a stress-
free experience.
Can't Miss Experiences
The Grecian-style temple, the second of the Andaz’s masonic temples dates back to 1912 and, with its grand leather and gold masonic throne, zodiac-inspired gold ceiling and chequered marble floor, makes a unique event space for anything from wedding celebrations to intimate dinners elevated by the room’s otherworldly atmosphere.
