Zoku Paris
About
Conveniently located within the Boulevard Périphérique, Zoku (Japanese for family or tribe) Zoku offers a contemporary take on the business hotel. Spread across three floors of the glass Stream Building in the business district, its amenities are finely tuned towards mixed-use travellers, catering for business travellers and digital nomads with open-plan co working spaces built around communal tables, meeting rooms and a beautiful rooftop lit with colourful fairy lights in the evenings.
Zoku has a smart collection of 109 lofts and rooms spread across three main categories: Zoku Loft, Loft XL and Loft XXL. But there’s also a small collection of apartments, a studio and the smallest of the bunch, the Zoku Room. Each loft benefits from floor-to-ceiling windows looking over the inner- city landscape from a living room, a well-stocked kitchen, modern bathrooms and a kitchen table, ideal for convivial dinners in. The Lofted bed is presented elevated, mezzanine-style, and accessed by a brilliantly innovative piece of design in the form of a retractable staircase, allowing for extra living space during the day and a tidy appearance that values convenience and smart living over flowery cosmetics. Still, Zoku’s lofts are sleek, well turned out and comfortable, spacious enough for longer stays and finished with a colourful minimalism that is both homely and easy on the eye. Little extras like pockets next to the bed for your phone, USB, EU and UK plug sockets, basic office supplies, and gym rings hanging from the ceiling make it all the easier to work and play.
Guests in need of a wheelchair access should consider the Zoku Movie Room in rooms 601, 602, 701, 702 (Movie rooms) which, which boasts a huge retractable projector screen in front of the bed, as well as dimmable lighting throughout. Zoku’s culinary offerings are offered in The Living Kitchen, a charming open-plan restaurant with long social dining tables, smaller tables for two for more intimate evenings and an open-plan kitchen with seats right next to the chef. The food is simple and delicious with a focus on fresh ingredients and healthy living, and there’s a rotisserie for perfectly cooked Rotisserie chicken.
Climb to the rooftop for the Kindred Spirits bar, as good a spot for a caffeine boost during the day as it is for cocktails in the evening. The rooftop terrace boasts sublime views over Paris, and there's a garden growing fragrant herbs and plants for use in the restaurant. Snuggled into charming Clichy, Hotel Zoku is ideal for exploring the 17th arrondissement, the Metro line 13 is a quick option for crossing town to explore the Eiffel Tower, Musée d'Orsay and the Latin quarter while line 14 will take you to the Stade de France and the Orly Airport.
