Kamalaya Koh Samui
About
Perched on Koh Samui’s stunning southern coastline, Kamalaya offers a transcendent hotel
experience where wellness, luxury and nature combine to offer one of the island’s most beguiling
stays. You’ll find the Kamalaya Wellness Sanctuary & Holistic Spa perched over a secluded stretch of beach,
with impeccable vistas over the Gulf of Thailand, scene-setting banyan trees and a lush jungle hillside providing
respite from the tropical sun. An ancient meditation cave completes the package, allowing for moments of pure
serenity in a space whose spiritual lineage can be traced back hundreds of years.
Guest rooms are available in an abundance of forms, with sun-kissed hillside suites boasting
inspiring sea views and large split-level villas tucked inside the lush jungle interiors for utmost
serenity and calm. All Kamalaya’s rooms, suites and villas are intentionally minimal: with neutral
colours, indigenous art and large cosy beds found throughout. Some rooms are finished with a
simple but inspiring view over the gardens, while many villas offer plunge pools and terraces with
striking views over Koh Samui’s beaches. Choose the beachfront villa, built atop granite boulders
and set directly on the secluded private beach, for divine evenings spent in the company of the
ocean and the stars.

A precisely curated experience awaits at Kamalaya, with each stay shaped by a personalised
consultation that aims to fine-tune services to every guest’s physical, spiritual and emotional needs
(think spiritual therapies, specialist massages, acupuncture, and life coaching sessions).
Treatments take place in the vast open spa (with soul-cleansing sea views), while swimming pools,
steam cabins, meditation halls, thermal plunge pools and an enthralling private meditation cave
complete Kamalaya’s impressive spa facilities. All 16 guest rooms as well as the Superior Suites are equipped
with black-out blinds. The villas will soon follow.
Digital Detox is a core principal at Kamalaya with no WiFi available in public areas reconnecting guests to nature and the environment.
At the core of the Kamalaya retreat is a healthy, heavily refined food experience spread across two
al fresco restaurants, with menus derived from the ancient healing traditions of China and India,
and an emphasis on healthy eating habits over traditional dieting. Expect to eat plucked-from-the-
sea fresh seafood and lovingly prepared seasonal vegetables alongside freshly squeezed juices
and wheatgrass shots. Plentiful organic produce is grown onsite including lime, Thai basil, ginger, kaffir lime,
roselle, betel leaves, lemongrass, papaya, fig, olive, mango. There are cooking classes teaching the
back-to-basics methods used at the retreat too, alongside regular workshops led by an extensive
directory of holistic practitioners.
Kamalaya provides direct access to everything from kayaking and diving the nearby corals to
jungle hikes and an intriguing Pilgrims Trail that leads guests along an atmospheric collection of
Spirit Houses, often adorned with colourful offerings like vibrant flowers and brightly coloured foods
and drinks.
Sun-seekers should note that rooms with direct lift access are in the Superior Suites building
the Superior Suite Sea View rooms on the second floor and third floor along with the Penthouse Pool
Suite also on the third floor.
And while no specific children’s activities are available due to the holistic, adult-focused nature of the retreat, 1 child is permitted per room, making Kamalaya less suitable for a classic family getaway.
