Situated close to the busy Liverpool Street station, the Sun Street Hotel is an elegant, design-led sanctuary beautifully encased inside six Georgian terraced houses. Wander in from the street, and you’ll leave the corporate streets of the Square Mile and enter a whimsical world of elegant interiors, full of snugs and intimate spaces from which to escape the bustle of a London street. The hotel’s 41 well-appointed rooms are sublime, all with king-sized beds and a personality of their own (deep colours, patterned wallpapers, and contrasting textures), not far removed from the stylish character of nearby Shoreditch. Suites are stunning with private entrance halls and separate living rooms brought to life with luxe velvets and busy frame-filled walls, while bathrooms boast rainforest showers, marble sinks and full-size toiletries from London’s Penhaligon’s, and are finished with elegant metro tiling and contrasting hardware in chic metallics.

The Sun Street Hotel’s design-led interiors lend themselves well to accessibility concerns, with accessible entranceways and exceptionally helpful staff fully trained to support every guest’s accessibility needs. Additionally, the Sun Street Hotel has a small selection of adapted rooms available in its superior category (except room 109), and anyone travelling with an assistance dog is advised to notify the hotel in advance (to ensure they get a treat or two).

While the hotel doesn’t have a spa, the interiors of the ground floor are incredibly relaxing, with the Library room and Club Room both conjuring the privacy and style of a private club, with hints at the hotel’s Malaysian roots found in their design. The Orangerie bar and restaurant is a delight, set under a sunny atrium and serving a delicious menu of sharing plates with a twist of British and Asian flavours. This confluence of cultural inspirations is carried even further in Quercus, the hotel’s main restaurant, where an a la carte menu of South East Asian-inspired cuisine is elevated by the finest local produce. The lobby bar is ideal for cocktails, with a refined list of tipples served in a moody, low-light setting, relaxed enough for a romantic end to a night out in London. Try the hotel’s signature concoction, the Mata Hari, a Sapling Vodka-infused rosemary milk punch.

Situated on the border of Shoreditch and the City, just a few steps from Liverpool Street Station, the Sun Street Hotel sets you in a superb position to explore all of London. Arrive at Liverpool Street Station (via the Elizabeth Line, for example), and you’ll barely need to walk to reach your room while nearby London highlights such as the Tower of London, bohemian Brick Lane and busy Spitalfields Market are all a short walk away. The sights of the South Bank, pretty Paddington, Canary Wharf and Oxford Circus are all within easy reach by a mix of Elizabeth Line and London Underground directly from Liverpool Street Station.
