A luxurious honey-hued former coaching Inn surrounded by the stunning hills of the Peak District, the Cavendish Hotel is a perfect option for a weekend away in Derbyshire. By virtue of its excellent location in idyllic Baslow, every bedroom looks out to the elegant Chatsworth Estate, and while the suites are very well-appointed, the Coach House’s period furniture, thoughtful decor and free-standing baths make its rooms some of our favourites. And the ground floor rooms are fully accessible.
All of the Cavendish Hotel’s communal areas have been reconfigured to better enable social distancing. Hand sanitiser stations are readily available, and complimentary personal sanitisation kits are in every room. Additionally, cashless and contactless payment is now mandatory, and the hotel has created a rigorous cleaning schedule for your peace of mind. The two restaurants, the Garden Room and The Gallery are both excellent, but The Gallery (awarded three AA Rosettes in 2020) is the more experiential of the two. Both have adapted well to social distancing, the large dining rooms as beautiful and ambient as ever, and both keep to a rigorous cleaning regime, ensuring dinners as safe as they are delicious. The useful Devonshire Hotels app is available for everything from browsing restaurant menus and making hotel bookings, to online check-in, keeping up to date with Covid polices, and reading the hotel guide.
