Boasting an enviable location in a leafy corner of the Chatsworth House Estate, the Devonshire Arms offers 18 beautifully appointed rooms across a delightful collection of characterful buildings, each evoking a sense of traditional countryside living with considerate furnishings and countryside views through leaded windows. Choose the romantic Peakdale room for open plan living with a delightful roll-top bath conveniently placed next to the bed or the Ashop Room for its thoughtful accessibility.

Even with its (reassuringly) comprehensive list of new safety regimens, the charming Devonshire Arms at Beeley remains as beguiling and as cosy as ever. Internal areas are decluttered to allow for social distancing, new hand sanitising stations appear in key areas throughout the hotel, and each guest receives a welcome pack with sanitiser and toiletries.  While face coverings are required in the common areas, they are not required in the delightful restaurant where antique stone walls and wooden beams inform the traditional countryside decor, that’s made all the better by authentic British cooking, enhanced by ingredients direct from the estate. Breakfasts can be pre-ordered and served on a neighbouring table to minimise contact, there’s an app-based mobile menu, and the classic menus are sanitised after each use. But as spaces in the restaurant are limited, pre-booking is essential.

On booking, guests will receive a pre-arrival questionnaire to make the contact-free check-in that bit brisker and worry-free, and all the usual hotel literature is available on the convenient Devonshire App.

The pub serves traditional gastropub fare for lunch and dinner, but its breakfast is the real star, with local produce directly from the Chatsworth Estate served in the classic Peak District style of a wood-panelled pub oozing with countryside ambience. To maintain social distancing in the restaurant, tables are further apart, cleaning takes a little more time, and booking is a must, but the service still shines, and the food is as indulgent and delicious as ever. To check-in online, browse (and book) the restaurant menus from the comfort of your room and to keep up-to-date with the hotel’s Covid-policies, the hotel has created a convenient app, for a fully touch-free travel experience.

An amazing dinner
