A 17th-century coaching inn set into a picturesque Italian garden by the River Wharfe, the Devonshire Arms offers seclusion and sanctuary in its 33,000 acres of idyllic Yorkshire countryside. The 40 rooms are each adorned with luxury fabrics, elegant furniture, antiques and an assortment of four-poster beds, gallery framed art and open fireplaces, but the classical style and Dales views of the Superior Rooms make them a favourite.
Even with a reassuringly long list of new health and safety regimens, the Devonshire Arms Hotel and Spa remains as welcoming and stylish as ever. Key areas are decluttered to allow for social distancing, new hand sanitising stations placed thoughtfully throughout, each guest receives a welcome pack, and linens are professionally laundered, further enhancing the overall sense of security within the hotel.
Of the restaurants, the Three AA award-winning Burlington is the star. Fine local ingredients are elevated to art on the plate, and Tom, the Burlington’s sommelier is always on hand to help you make the best choice form the Devonshire’s impressive wine list. The AA Rosette Brasserie offers a more laidback dining option, while afternoon tea is served in the elegant conservatory. Social distancing is achieved through limiting table numbers, but service is so finely tuned that you’ll barely notice the enhanced health and safety protocols.
Online menus (or throw away menus if you prefer) for the restaurants, contactless key collection and payments make the entire experience feel safe, secure and, along with the Devonshire’s courteous service.
