A dramatic estate perched on a view-laden outlook in the 30,000 rural acres of Bolton Abbey awaits at the Devonshire Fell. Each of its 16 individually-designed rooms offers countryside views enhanced by luxury finishings and all the necessities, making it a perfect retreat from which to explore the Dales. The delightful spa at the Devonshire Arms is available to guests too, but booking ahead is necessary.
Framed by the cinematic landscapes of the Dales, the Fell Hotel’s bucolic gardens and open interiors are perfectly suited to new social distancing measures. The stylish and spacious communal areas and individually-styled rooms have been de-cluttered for safety but the boutique ambience and contemporary furnishings remain charming and enticing.
Hand-sanitising stations are placed at convenient points throughout the hotel, and easy-to-follow framed signs keep guests up to date with any requirements. This relaxed approach continues with a pre-arrival questionnaire to streamline the check-in process, and the staff, who are as friendly and hospitable as ever, receive regular Covid-19 training. While social distancing measures mean fewer tables and an absolute necessity to book, the Fell Restaurant, with its two AA Rosettes, remains a highlight. Breakfasts are served to the table with bookable time slots throughout the morning, and if guests prefer, everything can be served to a neighbouring (unused) table to minimise contact.
