Set in 300 acres of verdant Hertfordshire countryside, just 18 miles from London, The Grove is the ultimate five-star retreat. The former home of the Earls of Clarendon, the hotel has been lovingly restored and is now home to 215 luxurious bedrooms and suites, Lounges, the Library, various meeting and event spaces and two unique restaurants, The Glasshouse and The Stables. Just a picturesque meander from the historic mansion and a stone’s throw from the contemporary West Wing, you’ll find Sequoia spa and beyond that, the championship golf facilities that played host to the 2016 British Masters. Outside, the grounds promise gardens and Asher’s Woodland Trails, perfect for family activities including Segway experiences and bike rides. The Grove’s hidden gem is the enchanting Walled Garden, an oasis of tranquility, complete with Ralph’s Beach, Jemima’s Kitchen Garden and tennis courts.
The Grove’s big public spaces are perfect for social distancing, and the team have cleverly replaced chairs or tables with plants and other objects and are using music to help ‘fill’ the space and better harmonise the environment. Complimentary hand gel is left in every bedroom and hand sanitising stations placed throughout, while reassuringly thorough cleaning protocols ensure a healthy stay for every guest.
The large Glasshouse Restaurant has a delightful outdoor area seated around an open fire, while the Stables restaurant plays host to various pop-ups throughout the year. Most recently, Jimmy’s Lodge Restaurant serves mountain-inspired fare such as fondue and juicy cuts of Cote De Beouf to share during the colder months. Digital solutions for check-in (thermal imaging and QR codes) and booking the popular golf course ensure a swift, touch-free hotel experience. And temperature checks are required on entering the Spa, and pre-booking — for everything — is essential.
Can’t Miss Experiences
From Segway experiences to archery, swimming and laser clay, you’ll find a range of on-site activities for adults and children alike.
