Stay from today!
April 12, 2021

Today’s the day that self-contained accommodation opens – but that doesn’t just mean holiday cottages. You might be surprised to know that a number of hotels also have self-contained accommodation, which can open before their regular hotel rooms.
Several of our RightRooms hotels have self-catering and self-contained offerings, all offering Covid-safer features.
For example, The Athenaeum, in the heart of London’s Mayfair, is ideally located for exploring London’s tourist attraction, with Buckingham Palace on the other side of Green Park. Its Residences make the perfect place to stay for families or groups. They each have a private entrance, fully-equipped kitchens, living and dining areas.
In Suffolk, make the perfect escape to the Six Bells in the pretty village of Bardwell. Next to the Inn, the old barn and stables have been converted into ten comfortable cottage-style, self-contained rooms. Set around the courtyard and all situated on the ground floor, you can have breakfast delivered to your door, or eat outside in the pretty courtyard.
In Cumbria, the Black Swan offers something a little different, with self-catering accommodation in Yurts, along with courtyard bistro dining.
Devonshire Hotels, owned by the Duke and Duchess of Devonshire, has boltholes around the Chatsworth Estate in the Peak District, and North Yorkshire. Availability is limited so be quick!
If you can wait a little longer, Hotels in Scotland will be open from April 28, so still a few weeks before the English ones. Dunalastair Hotel Suites, for example is a Victorian hotel bringing boutique accommodation to the heart of the Scottish Highlands. The five-star hotel has undergone a multi-million pound refurbishment.
Al fresco dining
While many of our hotels have to wait a few more weeks to welcome staying guests, they can still offer al fresco dining and drinking. Access will be allowed to indoor toilets, however, in the event of inclement weather, no indoor options are available. The rule of six also still applies – maximum of six people to a table with no more than two households.
The Old Mill, has the most wonderful tranquil riverside location in the New Forest, and is welcoming back diners to its external terrace and pub gardens.
Another New Forest location is Woodlands Lodge, which opens its new al fresco dining area, making the most of its New Forest surrounding on April 16. Book for brunch, lunch and afternoon tea on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays, initially.
Set in a quiet village in the Berkshire countryside, The Winning Post oozes character and charm – and of course al fresco dining from April 12.
And there’s more
Other hotels have facilities open, even though they can’t open rooms or restaurants. West Yorkshire’s Gomersal Park Hotel, for instance, opens its Dream Spa and Gym from today, April 12.
