IHG found that two thirds of travellers feel more tired away from home than in their own beds. Dr Steven Lockley, a sleep researcher at Harvard Medical School, has studied why, and light control is a significant part of the answer. The hotels listed here have confirmed their lighting is flicker-free. A 2024 study found that 41% of people with migraine developed headaches after exposure to flicker patterns common in standard hotel lighting, compared to 8% of those without migraine.
